Spatial approach in river basin management using decision making strategies

نویسنده

چکیده

The information needed for River Basin Management covers a wide range of hydrological and environmental data and methods. Since all measurement data are spatial and time related, spatial services fulfill the requirements in a decision making process best. In this work an open data structure for storing spatial temporal related data is proposed. Based on the data structure the modeling process can be performed directly in a GIS environment by using visualization and spatial analysis techniques. This concept incorporates the functions available in a GIS environment with the modeling concepts used in River Basin Management. The paper concludes with experimental results and gives a short outlook to future work.

Digital Spatial Data as Support for River Basin Management: the Case of Sotla River Basin

Many real-world spatially related problems, including river-basin planning and management, give rise to geographical information system based decision making, since the performance of spatial policy alternatives were traditionally and are still often represented by thematic maps. Advanced technologies and approaches, such as geographical information systems (GIS), offer a unique opportunity to ...

A spatial framework for regional-scale flooding risk assessment

The mining sector in Australia and globally has always been vulnerable to extreme weather with excess water due to flooding and deficient water through drought. Estimating flood inundation risk at a regional scale is essential for understanding sustainable mine water management, such as the Bowen Basin in Queensland, Australia. In this region, many coal mines have been facing a major challenge ...
